Blacksburg Summer Solstice Fest
The one and only Blacksburg Summer Solstice Fest: Saturday, June 18, 2016
Everyone who lives within the area has been anticipating the Blacksburg Summer Solstice Fest event. I got in touch with Ms. Laureen Blakemore, the Director of Events in Downtown Blacksburg, to ask her a few questions about Summer Solstice. Summer Solstice Fest Event Details
This will be the 9th annual Summer Solstice Fest and, according to Ms. Blakemore, about 5000-
7000 people attend every year. She explained to me that it is a community day designed to be enjoyable for everyone in attendance so that they may kick off summer the right way.
Bring the family and join the family fun events: there will be a petting zoo, an inflatable, water wars, games and entertainment for all ages.
For those who are old enough to drink responsibly there are a number craft vendors. For more detailed information check out the website http://www.downtownblacksburg.com/summer_solstice_fest.aspx.
Finally, she was kind enough to tell us which events you definitely don’t want to miss if you’ve never been:
- Cyrus Pynn: All-Around- Amazing street entertainer. (juggling, swallowing swords, unicycle)
- Water Wars (free and fun!)
- Doggy Costume Contest (I mean come on this is a no-brainer!)
- Great live music all day long!
Now that you know that Summer Solstice is a fun and family-friendly way to kick off the summer, if you’re in the area, plan to head downtown and join us! You don’t want to miss it!
